Business Expert-Consultant and Coach, Shawnte Mckinnon is what many would refer to as “the girl that never gives up.” As a female entrepreneur and veteran of the U.S. Air Force, she tends to bring disruption to the status quo, even unknowingly sometimes. She is a Media Personality, Author, Minister, Contributing Writer and has worked as a financial professional for over 15 years. Specifically, Shawnte has experience in grants, accounting, finance and operations and has worked in the private, nonprofit and corporate sectors.
“Life has thrown unimaginable curve balls my way. Some that are very hard to recover from but yet, with the help of God, I just never gave up,” says Shawnte. As a disruptor and agent of change, Shawnte is not scared of a challenge and is always thinking of how she can make things better. Throughout her different career roles, she has learned that there is no one size fits all approach to business, hence, it is important to have a transient advantage when market demands change, particularly in times of an economic downturn.
Shawnte is the founder and owner of Mckinnon Strategic Consulting Group, a consulting firm that provides tailored business strategies for entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and corporations. Their strategies are centered around the operations, accounting, and financials of an organization to strengthen the core of clients’ businesses and promote sustainable growth and revenue retention. The business provides these services through both consulting and coaching, while preparing their clients to have a transient advantage within their business to stay competitive and keep skin in the game in any economic climate.
While many businesses have been through tough economic times as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Shawnte and her business is positioned to help organizations get beyond these types of crises, both predictable and unpredictable crises.
“The pandemic resulted in the permanent closure of roughly 200,000 U.S. This was an external risk that most businesses weren’t prepared for. Having a consultant in place could have saved many organizations from shutting their doors permanently. My business is positioned to help entrepreneurs, small businesses and nonprofits to survive even when those risks are out of their control,” explains Shawnte.
Hence, helping businesses remain or become economically strong, even in adverse climates, is what pushes Shawnte to keep going. Currently, Shawnte is focused on helping burgeoning entrepreneurs get their feet wet in the world of business, bridging economic gaps and bringing experts together from around the world to help business owners and executives scale their business on a global level.
“If no one else believes in you, you keep believing in yourself. Show up for yourself and business daily. Have a mindset to learn, go and grow.”– Shawnte Mckinnon
